Domestic cleaning in Scorton, one of North Yorkshire's prettiest conservation villages. Stone cottages, a long green, the lot. DL10, easy reach from Richmond.
A village built around a green.
Scorton is a conservation village in DL10, famous for its long village green and beautifully preserved stone houses. The Almshouses, the church, the village pub, all knit into a community of long-standing residents and a handful of well-loved holiday cottages.
Properties tend to be older stone-builds with the quirks you'd expect: thick walls, deep windowsills, the odd inglenook. We treat them carefully and we know what each surface needs.

What we know about Scorton.
Scorton is one of the prettiest conservation villages in North Yorkshire: stone cottages around a long village green, the old grammar school, the pub, the bowling green still in use. The housing is overwhelmingly listed or in the conservation area, which means original stone, lime mortar, traditional sash windows and the occasional Yorkshire range cooker. Cleaning here is a different skill from a modern build, and we adjust accordingly.
Most of our Scorton work is for residents in the village proper plus a few in Bolton-on-Swale and Ellerton-on-Swale. We use cleaners and products suitable for original stone and old encaustic tile floors: no harsh acids on lime mortar, no abrasive scrubbing on hand-made tiles. If your property has any specific preservation requirement, tell us when we quote.
From Richmond it's about 12 minutes by road, on the Scotch Corner loop with Moulton and Middleton Tyas.
Scorton cleaning is mostly about steady homes, not drama.
Scorton is the kind of place where the best cleaning work is usually regular, practical and quiet. A household wants the same person back, the same rooms handled properly, and a cleaner who does not need the brief explaining from scratch every visit. That suits True Grit well because the business is built around owner-run rounds, not a rotating franchise crew.
Regular domestic cleaning.
For weekly or fortnightly cleans, Nikki will agree the priorities before starting: bathrooms, kitchen, floors, dusting, bedrooms, bins, mirrors and anything that needs rotating less often. Some clients want the basics kept sharp. Some want one room given extra attention each visit. Either way, the scope is written down so the clean does not drift.
One-off and deeper work.
Scorton also fits one-off deep cleans when the house needs pulling back into shape. That might mean oven glass, grout, skirting, internal windows or the bits behind furniture that nobody has looked at for a while. Nikki will quote the time properly and tell you if a job needs more than one visit. No pretending a deep clean is a quick wipe-round.
