Most cleaning companies rotate the people who turn up. It's easier from a scheduling point of view. You fill in the gaps wherever bodies are available. From a customer point of view it's the worst thing a cleaning company can do. Every visit is a stranger learning your house. Every visit something gets moved that didn't need to be moved. Standards drift.

True Grit Cleaning Co works the other way around. Nikki personally cleans, or directly supervises, every weekly or fortnightly home we look after. You speak to her on the phone when you book. She comes to quote. She turns up Tuesday morning. Next Tuesday too. Trust builds because the same person is there every time.

It limits how many clients we can take. That's the trade-off. We aren't the cheapest cleaner you'll find. Agency-style operators with rotating crews will always undercut on the hourly rate. We're the one you call when you want a cleaner who treats your house like she'd treat her own, week after week.

Most of our regular clients have been with us since the first month they signed up. Word-of-mouth in Richmond is small and unforgiving. If the standard slips, the bookings dry up fast. So the standard doesn't slip.

  • Chrome polished, mirror buffed
  • Floor washed
  • Towels straightened (or swapped if left)

Bedrooms & Living

  • Surfaces dusted & wiped
  • Beds made if not already
  • Floors vacuumed (carpets, rugs, hard floors)
  • Skirting wiped on a rotation
  • Cobwebs spot-cleaned
  • Cushions and throws straightened

Halls, Stairs & Whole House

  • Stairs vacuumed top to bottom
  • Bannisters wiped
  • Front-door area swept
  • Light switches & handles wiped
  • Bins around the house emptied
  • Mirrors & glass tables polished

Heavier rotation jobs (oven interior, behind appliances, inside cupboards, windows inside) work on a monthly or seasonal rotation so the house doesn't need a separate deep clean booking. Worth discussing at the quote.

First three weeks. Then it's on autopilot.

1. Phone call & visit-quote

Quick conversation about your home, what you want done, what you don't, any preferences or allergies. Nikki comes round to look at the place if it's a bigger property. Fixed quote agreed for weekly or fortnightly visits.

2. First clean: slightly longer

The first visit usually runs a bit longer than the standard. We tackle the bits that need a one-off catch-up: the corners that have been on the to-do list, the inside of the microwave, the cobwebs no one's been bothered to reach. After that, weekly visits keep the house at that level.

3. Settle into the rhythm

By visit three, the cleaner knows your home. Where the spare cleaning cloths live. Which cupboard the hoover bags go in. Whether you want the dishwasher run or left. The little stuff stops needing instructions.

4. Flex over the year

Holiday weeks skipped, deep cleans booked in for spring, schedule adjusted as life shifts. You stay in control. We're the cleaning service that fits around you, not the other way round.

Honest about who we're right for.

We don't suit everyone. Here's how to tell.

We're a good fit if you want a consistent cleaner you can trust with a key, you value the same person every visit, and you're OK paying a fair hourly rate to a small owner-run operation rather than the cheapest agency available. Most of our regulars are working professionals, families with kids and pets, holiday-let owners with second homes, or older clients who want someone they recognise at the door.

We're probably not the right fit if you want the lowest-cost option on the market, you're happy with rotating cleaners from a national chain, or you only need one-off cleans a few times a year (book a deep clean instead, a different service and a different quote).

Most clients give us a try with a one-month rolling weekly clean. If it suits, it suits. If it doesn't, no contracts, no fuss. We don't lock anyone in.

What new clients ask before booking.

Weekly domestic cleaning is quoted for your home specifically. Nikki looks at the size of the property, frequency, priorities, products, access and whether the first clean needs extra time, then gives a clear per-visit quote before you book.

Yes. The whole point of our service is consistency. The person who quoted your job is the person who cleans your home. You build a working relationship with them, they learn your house, your preferences, your dog. No rotating crew.

Not at all. Most regular clients give us a key or door code and we let ourselves in. Many are at work during the visit. We text on arrival and on completion. If you prefer to be home, that's fine too.

All living areas, kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, hallways, stairs. Surfaces dusted and wiped, floors hoovered and mopped, sinks and toilets cleaned, mirrors polished, bins emptied. Heavier jobs (oven interior, behind furniture, windows inside) rotate through monthly so a separate deep clean isn't needed.

Yes, the schedule is flexible. Plenty of clients start weekly while they get a feel for the routine, then drop to fortnightly once the house is in a steady state. Visit length adjusts to suit. Fortnightly is usually a bit longer.

Yes. Products, cloths, mop, hoover if needed. If you prefer specific products (eco-friendly, fragrance-free, allergy-safe) just say and we use yours instead. No problem either way.

Just let us know in advance. A few days notice for a cancellation is fine. For holidays we move your visit forward or back, or skip the week with no charge. We take a couple of weeks off ourselves each year and give plenty of notice.

Yes, fully insured for public liability and accidental damage. Required for working in homes and a baseline of professionalism. Certificate available on request.
